RIVERTON — Wyoming Game and Fish Department and Angling Wisdom are partnering again this year with local volunteers to help clean up the Rendezvous Ponds area near Riverton. The clean-up day will occur on May 31 at 9 a.m. at Rendezvous Ponds in Riverton. Please register to attend through our online form.
This clean-up day aims to make the area more enjoyable for families who want to get outside and enjoy Wyoming's great outdoor resources. Lunch will be provided after the cleanup, and fun prizes will be offered.
Game and Fish Access Coordinator Jon Desonier is one of the partners behind the idea. Desonier said, “This is a great opportunity to clean up an often overlooked recreation area. The rendezvous ponds provide angling opportunities for families but are often neglected throughout the year. We would love to have this area clean for free fishing day, which is the following Saturday, June 7."
Another partner, Patrick Edwards, host of Angling Wisdom Podcast, said, "The clean-up day has been a success the past few years. It is great teaching people about stewardship of the land and water. I always look forward to making the pond areas a place where people want to come and fish. I want to say a big thank you to the Game and Fish for helping make this all possible.”
Thank you to Wyoming Waste Systems for donating a dumpster for the event.
Please pre-register before May 30 to participate in the prize drawing. The Rendezvous ponds are located on E Monroe Ave. in Riverton at the 1838 Mountain Man Rendezvous Grounds. Find registration and more information online: https://anglingwisdom.com/volunteer or call Jon Desonier at 307-463-7861.
