Zachary Bernhardt is the new North Riverton Game Warden for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
Bernhardt was born and raised in Parker, Colorado. He grew up in a family that enjoyed the outdoors and would frequently go camping, fishing, and hiking in the Rocky Mountains. Bernhardt attended the University of Wyoming, graduating with his Bachelor’s in Wildlife Biology and Management in May 2023. He was hired as a Wyoming Game Warden just a month later and graduated from the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy in November 2023. At the Academy, Bernhardt was awarded the “Top Shot” award for shooting a perfect 100% with his rifle and handgun. Bernhardt began training in the Lander region and was promoted to North Riverton Senior Game Warden in February 2024. He replaced Jon Desonier, who moved to the Lander Access Coordinator position with the WGFD.
Warden Bernhardt says “I am excited to work with the Riverton community, learn the area, and experience the great hunting, fishing, and recreational opportunities that the North Riverton District has to offer!”
