Maury Brown Kids Fishing Day Set for June 7, 2025
WGF Staff teaches casting lesson to kids

CHEYENNE – Wyoming’s young anglers are invited to join the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and the WYldlife Fund for the annual Maury Brown Kids Fishing Day on Saturday, June 7, 2025. This free event provides 250 kids with the opportunity to experience fishing in a stocked pond on Wyoming’s state-wide free fishing day, where anyone can fish without having to purchase a fishing license.

This is the fourth year of this event, which was started by Mr. Maury Brown and is continued by his family. The event will be hosted again this year at the family’s Lazy Brown Ranch at Iron Mountain.

Participants will receive a free fishing rod, a stocked tackle box, and this year’s T-shirt. Wyoming Game and Fish Department staff and volunteers will teach casting lessons and fish cleaning skills. A complimentary lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided.

Registration is required and will close on May 15, 2025, or when all 250 spots are filled. There will be a waitlist after registration fills. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Participants who register will receive an email with details on the event schedule and transportation.
