This existing office located south of Cody does not have the capacity to address the needs of our employees or the public we serve.  In addition, the facilities require significant annual investment in maintenance and repair costs.
The office was originally constructed in 1979 with the intention of housing nine employees and was later reconfigured to accommodate 14 employees. As the need for services increased over time, two modular office buildings were added in 2011.
The current office does not have an ADA compliant meeting space, the parking area is difficult for trucks with trailers to maneuver in and essential upgrades to the current building would be substantial and costly, continually increasing over time.  Since 1979, Game and Fish has greatly enhanced community services to serve the public such as information and education, Access Yes, large carnivore, sage grouse, aquatic invasive species, aquatic habitat and fish passage.
Currently there are 26 full time employees and 5-10 temporary employees using 24 office spaces.
In addition, Game and Fish does not own the property where the current office is located.  The property is owned by Park County and leased to Game and Fish for no cost, under a  99-year term, with 58 years remaining. Since the building was constructed on county-owned property, the building will revert to the County when Game and Fish vacates it.
