Release schedule for Sand Mesa and Ocean Lake Wildlife Habitat Management Areas
Stocking schedules could change due to weather, road conditions or other factors. If stocking is postponed, birds will be released as soon as possible after the delay.
Regulations and requirements
It is the responsibility of each hunter to check current pheasant hunting, WHMA, HMA and WIA regulations specific to each hunting location. Some areas have youth-only hunt days. Please refer to current regulations.
Any person hunting pheasants within the boundaries of any Wyoming Game and Fish Commission wildlife habitat management area, or on Bureau of Reclamation Withdrawal lands bordering and including Glendo State Park, shall wear in a visible manner at least one outer garment of fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink color which shall include a hat, shirt, jacket, coat, vest or sweater.
A pheasant special management stamp is required to hunt pheasants on some Wyoming Game and Fish Department wildlife habitat management areas, some lands enrolled in the Walk-in Area program, and some state lands. Revenue from this permit helps finance pheasant rearing and stocking at the Sheridan and Downar bird farms.
Legal shooting hours for pheasants vary by hunt area.
