Cody  —  Hunters are an essential piece of setting hunting seasons, and now is the time to get involved in the process. Those interested in shaping the 2026 hunting season are encouraged to attend a public meeting and submit comments.

Attending a public meeting is also a great opportunity to talk with local biologists and wardens, learn about the wildlife in your backyard and ask questions.  Information about local hunt areas will be presented at each meeting, and proposals for the entire Big Horn Basin will be presented during the March 26th meeting in Cody.

Initial regulations were posted online in February to begin the public comment period.  Field staff are currently reviewing data and public input to develop 2026 season recommendations. 

Updated draft regulations with revised proposals will be available on the Game and Fish website by March 18. Youtube videos with district-specific information and proposals will be posted by March 22.
