CHEYENNE – Young anglers from across Wyoming are invited to cast a line at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Maury Brown Kids Fishing Day on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The free event gives 250 kids the chance to enjoy a day of fishing at a stocked pond during Wyoming’s statewide Free Fishing Day, when anyone can fish without purchasing a fishing license.

Now in its fifth year, the event was founded by Mr. Maury Brown and continues through the generosity and support of his family. Once again, the event will take place at the family’s Lazy Brown Ranch at Iron Mountain.

Each participant will receive a free fishing rod, a stocked tackle box and this year’s event T-shirt. Wyoming Game and Fish Department staff and volunteers will also provide casting instruction and help clean fish. A complimentary lunch will be provided for participants and families.

Registration is required and has closed. For those interested, a waitlist is available. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Registered participants will receive additional information about the event schedule and transportation by email.
