CHEYENNE — Time is running out to submit nominations for the 2026 Wyoming Outdoor Hall of Fame.

This honor, offered by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department every 18 months, recognizes individuals who have made significant, lasting, lifetime contributions to the conservation of the state’s outdoor heritage. Nominations will be accepted until March 31, 2026.

“Being inducted into the Wyoming Outdoor Hall of Fame is the highest recognition for a lifetime of outstanding contributions to conservation,” said Wyoming Game and Fish Director Angi Bruce. “We are excited to see the nominations for our 2026 inductees and encourage everyone to help us find and honor those individuals who have dedicated their lives to preserving Wyoming’s outdoor heritage.”

Nominees must have influenced conservation in Wyoming through a sustained and outstanding contribution during the course of their employment or through volunteer efforts. This can be in several areas, including:

  • Environmental law enforcement
  • Applied resource management
  • Conservation education
  • Conservation policy formation, legislation, and public leadership
  • Conservation-oriented research
  • Conservation literature, art, or journalism
  • Contributions to outdoor heritage

The Wyoming Outdoor Hall of Fame also recognizes a Youth Conservationist of the Year, a category implemented in 2023 to honor a Wyoming resident 18 years or younger who has shown leadership and achievement in conservation.

The nomination committee, chaired by the Game and Fish Director, will review submissions to make selections in March. The committee will consider whether the nominee's contribution was of statewide, interstate, or national significance and whether it affected a wide range of natural resources and their use.

Created in 2004 by then-Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal, the Outdoor Hall of Fame honors individuals both living and posthumously who have made significant lifetime contributions to conservation in the state.

To submit a nomination, you must send a completed application and a summary of accomplishments to the department. Submissions can be sent via email to amanda.fry@wyo.gov or by mail to:
