CODY- The Wyoming Game and Fish Department welcomes Grant Gerharter to his new role as Cody Region wildlife supervisor. Gerharter replaces Dan Smith, who was promoted to Wildlife Division Chief.

Gerharter has lived and worked in the Cody community since 2016, serving as the South Cody game warden. He began his career with Game and Fish in 2012 and previously served as a game warden in Kaycee, Green River and Casper.

"I am honored to serve as the Cody Region wildlife supervisor," Gerharter said. "The hard working people in our communities value our landscapes and wildlife. I am committed to working with our team and the public to conserve wildlife for future generations."

In his new role, Gerharter will work closely with local communities while leading a team of dedicated wildlife professionals to manage and conserve the region's diverse terrestrial wildlife.

Gerharter grew up in Thermopolis and attended the University of Wyoming, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management. He is an avid backcountry horseman and lives in Cody with his wife, Nicholle.

“We are very lucky to live in such a great place,” Gerharter said. “Game and Fish values this amazing wildlife resource and we are grateful for the passion the public contributes to wildlife management.  I hope to continue building relationships and collaborate with the public to ensure a sustainable wildlife resource.”
