The Wyoming Game and Fish Department manages 21 elk feedgrounds in northwest Wyoming.

Over the years, the supplemental winter feeding of elk has grown in complexity. Among the complexities are wildlife diseases, specifically increasing concerns about the spread of chronic wasting disease across the State. Following the completion of the Wyoming Elk Feedgrounds Management Plan in 2024, the Department is currently developing Feedground Management Action Plans (FMAPs) for each elk herd encompassing a feedground and will host public meetings in 2026 to discuss these plans.
