Tough Winter for Jackson Moose
Every winter is tough on wildlife, but this past one seemed to be tougher on moose than any in recent memory for Jackson Game Warden Kyle Lash. "We had more moose calls this winter than any I can remember," said Lash. "I'd say we easily handled 30 dead moose between Jackson and Wilson this winter." Record levels of snow were recorded in the Jackson Hole valley and as winter wore on the phone at the Wyoming Game and Fish office continuously rang from residents reporting dead or dying moose, everything from vehicle collisions to moose just simply being sick. Managers are hoping for a productive spring as moose calves will soon be showing up around the valley.
