Several Game & Fish personnel from the Jackson Region along with many other partners and volunteers held the 28th annual Jackson Kids Fishing Day at R Park near Wilson. The weather was perfect and 275 kids registered for the event. As in the past, kids were able to keep their fishing equipment through a grant from Jackson Hole One Fly Foundation. Thanks to the many sponsors and volunteers for helping make the event such a huge success each year.
In addition, this year a new program called “Trout Tuesdays” was initiated with the assistance from the Jackson Hole Land Trust and the Snake River Fund. Trout Tuesdays is a bilingual event that was held at the R Park every Tuesday in June focusing on the Latino community or anyone else that may need additional help with fishing or equipment. Through a grant from Worldcast Anglers, free licenses and equipment were available for all participants. Several families enjoyed the event and it will likely be offered again next summer.
