The Wyoming Game and Fish Department invites you to participate in a meeting in Sundance to discuss mountain lion hunting seasons on May 29. The Sundance meeting will be held at 4 p.m. at the Crook County Courthouse.
Newcastle Wildlife Biologist Joe Sandrini noted, "If you are affected by these regulations, please take the time to review them and provide us with any concerns or suggestions you might have for improving them. The Commission takes public input very seriously, and at times ideas generated by the public can be incorporated to improve rule changes."
Proposed changes to regulation and harvest strategies are highlighted in the draft regulations which are available online at wgfd.wyo.gov, under the Regulations tab. “Regulations and harvest strategies are evaluated every three years for mountain lions,” adds Sandrini.
The meetings will also address proposals for:
- Chapter 4, Furbearing Animal Hunting or Trapping Seasons
- Chapter 25, Falconry and Raptor Propagation Regulation
- Chapter 32, Regulation Governing Firearm Cartridges and Archery Equipment
- Chapter 42, Mountain Lion Hunting Seasons
- Chapter 44, Regulation for Issuance of Licenses, Permits, Stamps, Tags, Preference Points and Competitive Raffle Chances
- Chapter 47, Gray Wolf Hunting Seasons
The Game and Fish Department strongly encourages anyone interested to review the proposed regulations and provide comments, all of which are forwarded to the Game and Fish Commissioners prior to their decision making. However, comments must be submitted in writing to: Wyoming Game and Fish Department, ATTN: Regulations, 3030 Energy Lane, Casper, WY 82604. Comments can also be submitted through the Game and Fish online commenting system by going to the Get Involved tab, then clicking on Public Meetings on the Game and Fish website at wgfd.wyo.gov. The deadline for submitting public comments on proposed changes to mountain lion hunting is 5:00 p.m. June 17, 2019. Game and Fish Commission will consider any changes at their July 18-19 meeting in Rock Springs.
