Casper Boys and Girls Club tours Speas Hatchery

The National Historic Trails Interpretive Center and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department partnered with the Boys and Girls Club in Casper to Take it Outside!  Several programs are scheduled throughout the summer to expose kids to different wild things and wild places.  On this particular day, Fish Culturist Clint Snell gave the kids a tour of the Dan Speas Fish Hatchery where they learned all about trout raised and stocked into Wyoming’s waters.  They even fed rainbow trout destined for the reservoirs along the North Platte River system (Seminoe, Pathfinder, Alcova and Glendo).

Summer is a great time to visit the hatchery.  They have many fish at the facility as they prepare for fall stocking season which begins in September.  For more information on Speas visit https://wgfd.wyo.gov/About-Us/Offices-and-Facilities/Dan-Speas-Rearing-Station.
