Wyoming Wildlife magazine wants to see your best outdoor photography. Submissions for the 2017 photo contest are being accepted online until Nov. 20. Winning entries will be announced in the February 2018 photo issue of Wyoming Wildlife. This year, we’re boosting the contest with new prizes in every category. The grand-prize winner will receive a $600 check for best overall photo plus a $350 voucher for print on metal, acrylic or gallery mount from Artizen Photo Printing, a Wyoming business based in Cheyenne.
“Wyoming’s plentiful wildlife and expansive scenery make this contest exciting to enter,” said Amy Bulger, editor of Wyoming Wildlife. “Our categories allow photographers to explore their favorite part of the outdoors.”
Contestants can submit photographs in the following categories:
- Wildlife (wild mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish)
- Scenic (in which landmarks, scenery or inanimate objects are prominent)
- Recreation (people enjoying the outdoors through hunting, fishing, hiking, backpacking, skiing or other outdoor activities)
- Flora (wildflowers, foliage, fruiting bodies or other parts of plants).
This year, submissions are being accepted online only. Photos must have been taken in Wyoming and cannot have been previously submitted to (or taken on assignment for) Wyoming Wildlife. Employees of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Wyoming Game and Fish Commissioners and their immediate families are ineligible.
“Photographers should pay close attention to photo size and type when submitting. Photos must be in jpeg or TIFF format and at least 5100 pixels in their longest dimension,” said Justin Joiner, Wyoming Wildlife creative director. This is the equivalent of 17 inches at 300 resolution on the longest side.
