Super Tag tickets offer opportunity to win a once in a lifetime hunt
The Wyoming Super Tag and Super Tag Trifecta tickets are on sale again. Going into its third year, the raffle continues to generate money for wildlife management and provides incredible experiences for resident and nonresident hunters. Hunters seeking the experience of a lifetime to hunt the most coveted big game and trophy animals in Wyoming can win the opportunity to purchase one or more licenses to hunt bighorn sheep, moose, mountain goat, elk, wild bison, deer, antelope, black bear, or mountain lion.
New for 2016, KUIU, a company specializing in ultralight hunting gear and apparel, is donating equipment packages to bighorn sheep, mountain goat and Trifecta Super Tag winners. Each package is worth over $1,000 for winners.
2015 Super Tag Trifecta winner, Ben Jackson, from Cheyenne, Wyoming, harvested a bighorn sheep, mountain goat, and Shiras moose. “My Super Tag experience was incredible. It was one of the biggest adventures of my life. I saw areas of Wyoming that I had never seen before and probably never see will again. It is an experience that few will have, but those that do will always cherish. I am not sure I will ever have a hunting season that compares,” said Jackson.
This will be the third year for the Wyoming Super Tag raffle. A Pope and Young record book bison was taken by a Super Tag winner in 2014. In 2015, Super Tag winners harvested three animals that may also be eligible for the record books (two mountain goats and a moose). Past winners’ photos and stories are available on the Super Tag website. Raffle revenue funds wildlife management.
Super Tag or Super Tag Trifecta winners are able hunt any open area for the species selected except for moose and bighorn sheep where some area restrictions apply. Additionally, hunters can retain all preference points accumulated. Raffle winners are also exempt from the mandatory waiting periods for bighorn sheep and moose and the once-in-a-lifetime restriction for mountain goat and bull bison.
Tickets can be purchased until July 1. Super Tag tickets are $10 each; Super Tag Trifecta tickets are $30 each. Hunters may purchase unlimited entries, each are sold by species. Raffle winners will be notified by July 15. One winner will be selected for each of the nine species, plus the trifecta; trifecta winners will choose three. Winners must purchase any applicable licenses and/or stamps before hunting. Tickets are not available from license-selling agents but must be purchased through the online Electronic License System. Public computers are available at any regional office to buy raffle tickets and other licenses.
