Sheridan and Johnson Co. Chapter of Pheasants Forever donates to Game and Fish Access Yes program
The donation helps secure access for hunting and fishing across Wyoming, through the Private Lands Public Wildlife (PLPW) Access Program. From 2008 until now, the Pheasants Forever Chapter has donated more than $13,000 to Access Yes.
Pheasants Forever Chapter spokesman Matt Parker said, “Our Chapter was fortunate to have a Wyoming Game and Fish Commissioner’s big game license donated to us by Commissioner Carrie Little. After selling the Commissioner’s license we decided to donate part of the proceeds to the PLPW Access Program, something we have supported since its inception.”

Each dollar donated to Access Yes garners about 3.7 acres of public access for hunters and anglers. The $3,000 donation will provide approximately 11,100 acres of public access this year.

Sheridan Regional PLPW Coordinator Troy Tobiasson said, “The Access Yes program can remain healthy and effective in meeting its intended purpose with contributions from groups like Pheasants Forever. We are grateful for the local chapter’s support and thank them for this great donation.”

Funding for Access Yes comes from several sources, primarily conservation stamp sales, donations and restitution payments.  Hunters and anglers have the option of donating to the program when they purchase or apply for a license. Sportsmen donations can only be used for purchasing easements for Hunter Management Areas and Walk-in Areas.

In 2014, the PLPW Access Program provided nearly 2.8 million acres of access for hunters and anglers. This includes 1,102,370 acres on Hunter Management Areas and 659,972 acres in Walk-In Hunting areas.
