Rock Springs artist wins 2017 Conservation Stamp Art Show
Rock Springs artist, Andrew Kneeland, is the winner of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department 2017 Conservation Stamp Art Show with his depiction of the mallard through his piece, "Green River Greenheads". His painting will be featured on the 2017 Conservation Art Stamp. Second place was awarded to Jeffrey Klinefelter, Etna Green, Indiana for "Small Island Mallards”. Third place went to Craig Fairbert of Tony, Wisconsin for "Clear For Landing."
“Having Mr. Kneeland’s piece selected through a blind-judging process is extremely notable. A winner who is a Wyoming resident and a recent high school graduate alone is rare, but Andrew was also the winner of the 2015-2016 National Junior Duck Stamp Contest, where his artwork will also be featured,” said Margaret James, art show coordinator. “We extend our most sincere congratulations to Mr. Kneeland.”
This year’s subject, the mallard duck generated 72 entries from throughout the country. Artists from 17 states are represented, including 43 entries from Wyoming artists. Several honorable mention awards were given:

The show will be on display at the Headquarters Office in Cheyenne until May 13, 2016. All paintings, with the exception of first place, are for sale. Purchases of artwork can be made in the Game and Fish Gift Shop located at the Headquarters Building or for further questions call 1-800-LIV-WILD.
Game and Fish also announced the species that will be featured for the Art Show for the next three years. The species for the 2018 contest will be the badger. The 2019 contest, which will be the 35th anniversary of the art competition, will be the mule deer, marking the 30th anniversary since last featured. The 2020 the species will be the Colorado River cutthroat trout.
