Public meetings scheduled to discuss proposed 2017 fishing regulations
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will hold a series of statewide public meetings to discuss proposals for the 2017 fishing and watercraft regulations beginning in April throughout May. The meetings will address a number of proposed significant changes to the current regulations. All interested parties are encouraged to attend. A full listing of proposed changes is available for review online.  Public comments can be made online beginning April 19.

Some notable proposed changes are;.  
  • Change the walleye creel and possession limit for anglers and spear gunners on Pathfinder Reservoir to 12 fish.  
  • Designate burbot as nongame fish that must be killed immediately on all waters in the Platte and Snake River drainages.
  • Designate northern pike as nongame fish that must be killed immediately in all waters except Keyhole Reservoir.
  • Require that all smallmouth bass be released in Wyoming portion of Flaming Gorge Reservoir.
  • Change the statewide tiger muskie creel and possession limit to one fish over 36 inches.
Watercraft proposals include minor changes to the definition of a “throwable device” and “Wearable personal flotation device” which means U.S. Coast Guard approved standards.
