New webpage updates public on Game and Fish Cody regional office construction
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has launched a webpage to help keep the public informed during construction of a new regional office in Cody.

Game and Fish is still about two years out from opening the doors of a new office. Thus far, the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission has purchased land in August for the building and has hired an architect to develop plans for the new office building. Completion of the project is scheduled for early in 2022.

“We are committed to keeping the public informed throughout this construction project,” said Dan Smith, regional wildlife supervisor. “We will update the webpage regularly, and you can opt-in to receive regular updates by enrolling in our email list.”

The new Game and Fish regional office in Cody will add value to the community and allow Game and Fish to provide better services to the public. Preliminary plans for the building include:
  • A large ADA compliant community meeting room that can be used for public meetings, hunter education courses, workshops and other non-profit events
  • An AIS check station which will replace the current North Cody check station near Newton Lake Road
  • Easier and safer location with better parking for the public
  • More space at the front counter to accommodate customers

The Game and Fish Commission has budgeted for the new regional office. Funding comes from sportsperson support through the sale of licenses and federal reimbursements. Game and Fish does not receive allocated state funding for operations or  construction projects. Game and Fish is committed to contracting with local businesses for construction.
