A. After the drawing date, simply log back in and choose the link to “View Your HMAs.” Any permission slips successfully drawn will be available to print. Ones not drawn will have the permission slip link grayed out and will show “unsuccessful” beside the “permission status” label.

A. Any permission slips left over are released on a first-come, first-serve basis at 8:00 AM the day the drawing results are supposed to be posted. You can see what is available to you by logging into the permission slip system and clicking on the “Apply for Permission Slips” tab, or see the quota that is leftover by clicking on the “First Come First Served Report” at the top of the HMA login screen (or clicking here).

A. The system is set up to focus on providing a good opportunity for as many hunters as possible over providing multiple opportunities for a fewer number of hunters. Even the majority of leftover slips will get picked up by someone needing a place to go.

A. You may already have been entered in the drawing for that, or another similar permission slip. Be sure to check the link to “View Your HMAs” to see if there is an application in there you forgot about, or if someone from your license party applied for permission slips for the whole party. In most cases, once you apply for a limited permission slip, you will not be able to apply for another one in that hunt area. If that license isn’t showing up and you bought it more than two hours prior, you should call the department’s License Section (307-777-4600) to see if they can help sort out potential problems with your Sportsperson ID number and license records.

A. Every hunter needs their own permission slip for access. You can apply for the permission slips with your license party, or create a new party when you apply for the access slip.

A. Up to six people can apply for permission slips as a party. To add more members to your party, you simply need to have them type in your party ID number when they apply. You can find your party ID number by logging into the permission slip system, choosing “View Your HMAs”, and clicking on the blue “Successful” link next to the “Application Status” label below that HMA/permission slip. If they have already applied without the party information and the drawing hasn’t closed yet, they can log in and choose the “withdraw” link next to the “Application Status” label, and then enter a new application that joins the existing party.

A. As long as the drawing hasn’t closed yet, you can log in and choose the link to “View Your HMAs.” You can then select the blue “withdraw” link next to the “Application Status” label, and enter a new application.

A. You are only able to withdraw a permission slip application prior to the drawing. Once the permission slip is available to print, we can’t reissue it.

A. Having a partner is a safe hunting practice and we encourage it. As long as they are accompanying you and aren’t carrying a bow or firearm, they are covered by your permission slip.

A. The Hunter Management Area system pulls the address information from your license profile in early July each year. If the address is also incorrect on your licenses, you can update the address in their database by calling the License Section at 307-777-4600, or tell the license agent your new address the next time you buy a license. If you have already updated your license address (since July), you are legal, but the address will display incorrectly on your permission slips until we update our files again.

A. For your permission slip to be valid, it needs to include the description for the vehicle you will be using to reach the access area. You can add or change vehicles by logging into the HMA permission slip system and then clicking on the “View my Profile” near the top right of the page (in the gray banner).

A. A number of permission slips are available to multiple license areas and/or types. Other slips are only valid for a portion of the hunting season. You may only legally access and hunt an access area during the period when both the hunting season for your license (as published in the regulation book that came with your license) and the access period shown on your permission slip overlap.

A. Access areas are open only for a managed hunting or fishing opportunity, and all other uses require permission from the landowner.

A. We do not give out contact information for any landowners except for those who choose to use the Landowner/Hunter Assistance Program to fill specific harvest needs. You can find land ownership records and mailing addresses for all Wyoming landowners by contacting the county assessor’s office for that county (most current), or by searching for the Wyoming Statewide Parcel Viewer online (usually only updated annually).

A. In order to maximize opportunities for hunters, a license is required to be able to apply for a permission slip. This helps ensure only hunters who are prepared with the appropriate license and are likely to utilize the opportunity are able to reserve the limited spaces available.

A. If ORV's are prohibited, you should not have one in your possession while on that HMA. Those landowners are typically especially aware of off-road issues and simply bringing it onto their property may cause them unnecessary concern, additionally, you may be cited for possession of it, even without using it.

A. No, staying on the road is meant quite literally. If the road itself cannot be traveled without a noticeable risk of damaging the road or your vehicle, it is considered closed at that point. You will likely be cited if you drive off road other than to park immediately beside the road to allow other vehicles to pass.
