The Table Mountain WHMA has been managed by the Game and Fish Commission since 1962 and has become a very successful and important wetland area in Wyoming. On the 1716 acres, there are currently eight ponds. During the winter the Habitat and Access crew installs and monitors ice eaters on Pond 1 to create open water for waterfowl. Game and Fish, in partnership with the BLM and the Goshen County 2 Shot Goose Hunt, have worked hard to increase the vegetation in the abundant marshlands by installing goose-nesting structures.  

In addition to waterfowl, the main hunting opportunities include deer, pronghorn, pheasants, rabbits and doves as well as predator hunting for coyotes and fox. Trapping for muskrat and badgers are also allowed. All hunters and trappers need to be well-informed of the restrictions and regulations in place to protect the nesting geese here.

Table Mountain is also a great recreational spot for camping, hiking and wildlife watching. There are many other types of bird species that utilize the increased vegetation and nesting coverage of Table Mountain, and you can camp here for no cost for up to 14-days.
