As with other hunting information, legal shooting hour requirements can be found in each of the species specific hunting regulation brochures. In general, legal shooting hours for taking upland game birds,wild turkeys,and migratory game birds are one-half (½) hour before sunrise to sunset. There are exceptions in some areas, so double check the regulations before you hunt. Also, remember that shooting hours for big, trophy, and small game are one-half (½) hour before sunrise to one-half (½) hour after sunset.

There are several ways to determine actual sunrise and sunset times at a specific location. The best way is to use a GPS device. The device will give a readout of the exact sunrise/sunset time at the location where it is being used.

If you do not own a GPS, look up sunrise and sunset times for the town nearest your hunting location. Several websites enable you to do this. Two of these are:
