We really appreciate private landowners creating this access for hunters. The program is primarily paid for by donations from sportsmen and sportswomen, conservation stamps and restitution payments. If you want to hunt on a Hunter Management Area (HMA) you need to get a permission slip for that HMA. Permission slips are issued by the Game and Fish and are specific to a species. So, you need to get the required hunting license and our website will show you HMAs available for that species in that hunt area. After choosing an HMA, apply for a permission slip to hunt the HMA online. Some HMA's have permission slips that are issued in a competitive draw, others are first-come-first-served, while others are unlimited. When a hunter receives a permission slip they need to print out the permission slip, ranch rules and map. Before heading onto the private land remember to put one copy of the permission slip in the dash of your vehicle and carry the other copy. Hunters need to read and follow the rules for each ranch. We can't overstate the importance of following these rules. It only takes one or two unethical hunters to cause the landowner to stop allowing public access. Hunters please report violations to the Stop Poaching Hotline at 1-877-943-3847. Your reporting of a violation could ensure access to these HMAs into the future.
