Wyoming Game and Fish names Dexter new Casper regional wildlife supervisor
Mark Dexter

CASPER, Wyo. — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has appointed Mark Dexter as the new Casper regional wildlife supervisor, effective Aug. 1. Dexter succeeds Brian Olsen, taking over leadership of wildlife management and law enforcement efforts across the region.

Dexter brings a diverse background in wildlife biology, law enforcement, leadership and community relations to the position. He earned a bachelor's degree in wildlife and fish biology and management from the University of Wyoming.

In 2008, Dexter joined the Converse County Sheriff's Department, serving as a deputy for 14 years. During his tenure, he earned advanced peace officer certifications, worked as a patrol supervisor for six years and specialized in investigations. He also earned a certification as a Drug Recognition Expert from the International Association of Chiefs of Police, which aided regional watercraft enforcement.

Dexter began his career with Game and Fish as a damage aid before working within biological services. He was named the Torrington game warden in 2023, where he served until his recent promotion. Since joining Game and Fish, Dexter has focused on strengthening landowner relations, responding to public tips regarding illegal activity, leading law enforcement operations and training, and meeting with local constituents to gather their input on wildlife management recommendations.

"Mark’s unique blend of biological expertise, extensive law enforcement leadership and genuine commitment to community relations makes him the perfect fit to guide the Casper Region wildlife team forward," said Dan Smith, Game and Fish chief game warden. "We are thrilled to see him take on this new role and look forward to the Casper public experiencing his dedication to the public and the resource."

Dexter and the staff at the Casper Regional Game and Fish Office invite members of the public to stop by the regional office to visit.
