JACKSON — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is reminding outdoor enthusiasts that winter range closures are still in effect in the Jackson region and in many other areas across the state.
Despite mild weather and minimal snow at lower elevations, these seasonal closures are crucial for minimizing human-caused disturbances that can be stressful to wintering wildlife. Additionally, these closures lessen impacts on forage available on native winter ranges.
In the Jackson region, seasonal restrictions will remain in effect for Game and Fish Wildlife Habitat Management Areas until 6 a.m. on May 1. Opening dates may vary throughout the state and can be found on the Game and Fish WHMA webpage.
Winter closure restrictions are currently in effect for the following WHMAs in the Jackson region:
- Teton
- Woods Canyon
- South Park
- Horse Creek
- Camp Creek
- Patrol Cabin
- Greys River
Winter Wildlife Restrictions remain in effect on the Bridger-Teton National Forest through May 1 at 6 a.m. The forest winter travel map can be found here.
An interagency map of all winter closure areas in Teton County can be found here.
