WHEATLAND – The Laramie Region welcomes Marina McCampbell as the new Wheatland district wildlife biologist, replacing Keaton Weber.
McCampbell grew up in Tallahassee, Florida, and earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida. Her graduate work focused on small mammals and invasive Burmese python interactions in the Florida Everglades.
She brings wide-ranging field and agency experience, including big game monitoring in northern New Mexico, endangered species work in the Florida Panhandle, and service as a regional wildlife biologist with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. Most recently, she worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Arizona and Idaho.
“I am passionate about the ecosystems where the plains meet the Rocky Mountains, and I am thankful to step into this position,” McCampbell said. “I look forward to learning from and being of service to the people and wildlife in the Wheatland district.”
In her free time, she enjoys hiking, fishing, spending time with friends and family, and training and hunting with her German shorthaired pointer, Delta.
The Wheatland wildlife biologist is the public’s local contact for questions about big game, habitat, and wildlife management.
