The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is pleased to partner with The WYldlife Fund and the family of Maury Brown to host the third annual Maury Brown Kids Fishing Day. This year we celebrate the legacy of Maury Brown, whose generosity inspired the creation of this event to connect children with an opportunity to experience fishing and the outdoors.
This year the event will be hosted on June 1, Wyoming’s statewide free fishing day. With thanks to the Brown family, the event will again take place at the Iron Mountain Ranch, 60 miles northwest of Cheyenne.
The event is open to 300 kids. In addition to accessing a great fishing spot, all youth participants will receive a free t-shirt, fishing pole, and fully stocked tackle box. Attendees can also look forward to casting lessons, fish cleaning demonstrations, and a free lunch.
Interested participants must register by May 15, and registration is only open to the first 300 kids. Registration may close before May 15 if the participant limit is reached. All minors are required to be accompanied by an adult. Transportation is also available between Cheyenne and the Iron Mountain Ranch and participants are strongly encouraged to use the provided buses. Transportation details and a schedule for the day’s activities can be found in the registration form.
The last two years of Maury Brown Kids Fishing Day have seen more than 450 kids participate, many of whom were learning to fish for the first time. We are excited to offer another year of this great event, and we hope to see you out at the Iron Mountain Ranch.
