Jelm Mountain Wildlife Guzzler Repair Volunteer Project

LARAMIE — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking volunteers to assist with wildlife water guzzler repairs  on the Jelm Wildlife Habitat Management Area on Friday, June 12. The volunteer-driven effort will help improve long-term water availability for local wildlife through fencing replacement, apron repairs, sediment cleanout and general site rehabilitation.

Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. at the Laramie Game and Fish office (1212 S Adams St) before carpooling to the project site. Four-wheel drive is required to access the site. Volunteers should bring gloves, drinks, sunscreen and bug spray and be prepared for a day in the field.

The Bureau of Land Management and Wyoming Game and Fish Department will provide all necessary materials, tools and equipment to complete the projects. Lunch and water will also be provided for all participants. Additional details will be sent directly to those who sign up.

The project is a collaborative effort between the Bureau of Land Management, Wyoming Game and Fish Department and the Big Laramie Valley Volunteer Fire Department to protect important infrastructure and support wildlife habitat resources and stewardship on public lands.

Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to sign up on the volunteer website or contact Jerry Cowles for more information (jerry.cowles@wyo.gov)
