Hunting regulation changes in the Sheridan Region
Hunter

Big game hunters in the Sheridan Region will see several changes for the 2025 season.

Antler point restrictions for mule deer are in place in several deer hunt areas this year. For general licenses in deer hunt areas 19, 25, 29 and 31, antlered mule deer three points or more on either antler or any white-tailed deer may be harvested. A point must be one inch or greater.

The boundaries of elk hunt areas 123 and 126 in the Raven Creek area have changed. Please consult the written description of the new boundaries in the 2025 regulation book

A Type 8 elk license is offered for the first time in Elk Hunt Area 113. It is valid for a cow or calf on private land.

The Deer Hunt Area 32 general season for antlered mule deer is shortened from the 2024 season.

There is a new walk-in hunting area in Campbell County - Campbell County #9.  It is open for deer, elk, antelope, turkeys, and rabbits.

Johnson Walk-in Area #7 has shortened access dates this year and will close on Oct. 31. Antelope Hunt Area 23, types 2 and 7 licenses are not valid on this WIA.

Please consult the Public Access link on the Game and Fish website prior to accessing any walk-in or hunter management area, as each area has rules specific to that property.

Reminder for upland bird hunters: The sage grouse season in eastern Wyoming (Hunt Areas 2 and 4)  remains closed. Hunters pursuing sage grouse in other areas of the state should be aware that a free, annual sage grouse hunting permit is required. The purpose of the permit is to give wildlife managers more timely and accurate data regarding sage grouse hunting efforts, harvest and success.

All licensed sage grouse hunters are required to carry the sage grouse permit, in addition to their game bird license. The free permit is good for the calendar year it is issued. It is available online or at Game and Fish regional offices. It is not available through license selling agents.
