CHEYENNE — Throughout the state, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department will be adhering to local fire restrictions banning open fires. The public is encouraged to check for fire bans on Commission-owned lands prior to visiting.
Bans are currently in place throughout Wyoming. It is important to check ahead to understand what restrictions or limitations may be in place in camping and recreational areas.
During a fire ban, the following acts are prohibited on Commission-owned land:
- Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire charcoal grill, coal or wood burning stove.
- Smoking except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material.
Fireworks are always prohibited on Wyoming Game and Fish Commission lands.
Failure to comply with fire ban regulations may result in state, local, and federal fines, and even prison time in some cases.
