CHEYENNE — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Commercial Fishing Boat Advisory Board will have its first meeting at 9 a.m. May 1 at Game and Fish Headquarters, 5400 Bishop Blvd., in Cheyenne.
The meeting is open to the public, and also will be live streamed on Zoom. The live stream will not be recorded.
The seven-member advisory board will initially develop recommendations that will be presented to the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission for final review and approval. The advisory board will provide local perspectives and develop recommendations to enhance fishing conditions, and address waterway congestion stemming from commercial guide boat activity.
The board will host a series of meetings through August, and meet with the Commission in September. Following the Commission meeting, recommendations will be presented to the Joint Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Committee by Nov. 1.
Any registration requirements designated by the Commission will take effect Jan. 1, 2026.
Applications and selections for the board occurred in April. This board's formation follows the passage of House Bill 5, which authorizes Game and Fish to create rules to regulate commercially guided fishing boats in the state.
The names of the board members will be announced following the formal announcement at the upcoming Wyoming Game and Fish Commission meeting on April 23-24 in Casper.
