Hunt Area 34 Moose Flight
Biologists had beautiful conditions with fresh snow on the ground and a clear, cold day with little wind for the annual moose trend flight in Hunt Area 34 on Dec. 27, 2019.

Biologists observed 51 moose that day, including 15 adult bulls, three yearling bulls, 23 cows and 10 calves. The resulting bull to cow ratio was 78:100 and the calf to cow ratio was 43:100. We observed four of the eight radio-collared moose in the hunt area.

Trend counts in the last three years have exceeded the trend count objective of 30, with 52 observed after the 2017 hunting season and 46 observed after the 2018 hunting season. Results of the count will be used to develop 2020 hunting season recommendations.
