Pete’s Pond is a newly constructed community fishery located on the east side of Dubois, Wyoming near the Dubois Medical Clinic. It was constructed on a former sawmill site and has been over five years in the making. The pond was constructed thanks to efforts by the Dubois Anglers and Wildlife Group (DAWGs) and support from the Wyoming Wildlife and Natural Resource Trust, Wyoming Game and Fish, and local residents.
The pond has been stocked with rainbow trout and grayling already, and Yellowstone cutthroat trout will be added in the future. Recently, the annual Dubois kid’s fishing day was held there for the first time. About 60 youth showed up with their families and participated in educational activities before trying their hand at fishing.
The total project cost to complete the pond was over $500,000 and it is a great addition to the Dubois community. The DAWGs plan to raise additional funds for fishing piers, sidewalks, and landscaping. This is a community pond worth checking out.
