With the spring thaw in full swing and everyone itching to get out and enjoy our beautiful Wyoming waters, it is time again to start thinking about boating and fishing! With those opportunities on the near horizon, the probability of running into one of our Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) check stations also increases. Remember that if you encounter one of our boat inspection stations during your travels, you are required to stop for a quick inspection from one of our friendly inspectors! If you are traveling from out of state between the dates of March 1st and November 30th, you are required to be inspected before launching in the state of Wyoming and can set up an inspection by contacting your regional Game and Fish Office.
Did you know one way you can expedite the boat inspection process is to become certified as an inspector yourself? You can even inspect your friends’ boats! A public training will be held at the Casper Regional Office on May 21st from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Training is free and open to anyone interested in stopping the spread of invasive species. Registration deadline is one week prior to the class start date. Trainings are limited to 20 people per course.
