At the northern end of Glendo Reservoir, on the Converse/Platte County line, lies the newly created North Glendo Wildlife Habitat Management Area (WHMA). North Glendo WHMA is approximately 17 miles SE of Douglas, WY, and 12 miles WNW of Glendo, WY. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department took over management responsibilities for the area in spring of 2023. The area contains approximately 2,562-acres of riverbanks and river bottoms, periodically flooded wetland areas, and upland meadows. Recreational opportunities abound in the area, with access to river and reservoir fishing and boating, upland, waterfowl, and big game hunting, and camping in designated areas (14-day limit) – no fires, fireworks, or firewood cutting allowed. Upland hunters enjoy excellent opportunities, as WGFD releases pheasants in the area each November and December. There are no comfort station facilities here. North Glendo WHMA is open year-round; however, WGFD does not plow the access roads and parking areas in the winter.
