The May 31 deadline for Wyoming resident and nonresident big game hunters to submit applications for limited quota deer and antelope licenses is approaching. May 31 is also the deadline for limited quota resident elk.
All applications must be made online by midnight on May 31. For those who may not have access to a computer or need assistance applying, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department has computer stations at each of the Regional Offices and at the Cheyenne Headquarters.
Approved 2017 regulations, season dates, quotas are available on the Game and Fish website. Hunters can also view interactive maps of hunt areas on the Wyoming Hunt Planner, as well as drawing odds and harvest reports. Draws results will be available on June 22.
Hunters who are already looking ahead to leftover licenses should be aware of new changes to the allocation process for elk, deer and antelope. Any leftover licenses from the initial draw will be distributed through a leftover draw. The list of leftover licenses will be available on June 22 on the Game and Fish website. The application period will be five days, June 26-30, 2017. Leftover draw results will be available on July 13. The leftover draw has different rules than the initial draw. In the leftover draw, hunters should know:
- There is no quota split. Resident and non-residents will be placed in the same draw pool.
- Residents and non-residents can apply together in a party (up to 6 individuals) for licenses.
- There are no application fees.
- Preference points cannot used, and you will not lose preference points if you draw a leftover license.
- The leftover draw license availability is based on what is not allocated in the initial draw. The leftover draw does not have any influence on the initial draw.
Hunters who have questions about applications can call Game and Fish at (307) 777-4600 or visit their local regional office.
