Key dates for Wyoming hunting near and new a way to get refunds
As the year comes to an end hunters should be aware of several important dates.

2016 application information
For those hunters planning to hunt in 2016, applications for residents, non-residents, and landowners open 8 a.m. MST on Jan. 4, 2016. This is for limited quota elk, deer, antelope, moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, and spring turkey. Applications for wild bison open on Feb. 1, 2016. There are varying deadlines to apply depending on residency and species. For specific draw deadlines and detailed application information, please visit the Apply and Buy page on the Wyoming Game and Fish website.

Refund change for 2016
Game and Fish is working on implementing a new method to refund fees to unsuccessful applicants in limited quota drawings. This new method will mean that unsuccessful applicants will no longer receive refund warrants (a check from the State Auditor). Instead  a credit will be applied back to the credit card that was used for the submission of the online application. This new approach should save time and money.

To assist with this new process, please ensure that the credit card used has an expiration date valid through the time period in which the drawing will be conducted. The last drawings are done in June. Game and Fish will issue refund warrants when the credit card is no longer valid for processing a credit back to the card.

Tentative draw results for nonresident elk and spring turkey will be available beginning Feb. 25, 2016.

Super Tag applications
Super Tag and Super Tag Trifecta applications will also open Jan. 4, 2016 at 8 a.m. MST. The Super Tag and Super Tag Trifecta raffles give hunters the chance to win an opportunity to purchase one or more of Wyoming’s most popular big game and trophy game licenses including: bighorn sheep, shiras moose, rocky mountain elk, mountain goat, mule deer or white-tailed deer, wild bison, antelope, mountain lion, and black bear.

Super Tag Tickets are $10 each with one winner for each of nine species; Super Tag Trifecta Tickets are $30 each with one winner choosing any three species offered. Raffle winners must purchase any applicable license and/or stamps prior to hunting.  For more information, read the Super Tag Frequently Asked Questions.

2015 expirations
Hunters who have 2015 big game licenses that extend into January are reminded to purchase a new 2016 Conservation Stamp, which is required with a big game license. If this applies to you mark January 1, 2016 on your calendar as a date to have the new Conservation Stamp by. Those stamps can be purchased now on the Wyoming Game and Fish Department website, at a licensed dealer or at a regional office. Conservation Stamps expire Dec. 31, 2015.

In addition, Elk Feedground Special Management Permits also expire Dec. 31, 2015, and a 2016 Permit is required to hunt in January in those western areas that require this permit. The 2016 Conservation Stamp and Elk Management Permit are valid for the entire year.

Hunters who have questions or need assistance submitting applications may go to a regional office or the Cheyenne Headquarters office to use a computer at the kiosk station and receive personal assistance from Game and Fish employees.
