Cheyenne - Those hunting deer during the special archery season should be aware of a significant change to Wyoming Game and Fish Commission deer hunting regulations for the 2016 hunting season. Archers can no longer take “any deer” in hunt areas open to hunting with a general license during the special archery season. Archers are only allowed to take the sex and species of deer set forth in the limitations section of Section 2 of the deer hunting regulation. “The recent archery change for deer may be confusing for hunters, so we encourage anyone with questions regarding this and other regulation changes to contact a Game and Fish office before heading out hunting,” said Scott Edberg, deputy chief of the Wildlife Division. Hunters should reference their deer hunting regulations before heading afield to determine the sex and species limitations in Section 2; an example is included below. Hunting regulations are listed on the Game and Fish website. Hunters are responsible for reading, understanding, and following all hunting regulations.
