Game and Fish Super Tag close to raising $1 million for wildlife in 2019

Hunters who buy tickets in May can win a custom rifle

Cheyenne - The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is close to raising one million dollars in 2019 through the sale of Super Tag raffle tickets. The hunter-generated revenue supports programs that address Wyoming’s most pressing conservation issues such as the Wyoming mule deer initiative, hunter safety, Access Yes, law enforcement and chronic wasting disease. To celebrate, hunters who purchase a Super Tag ticket during May will be entered to win a custom-built ClymR rifle donated by Gunwerks and Worldwide Trophy Adventures.

“Hunters who buy Super Tag tickets are supporting wildlife conservation for all species and are helping  future generations of conservationists,” said Brian Nesvik, Game and Fish director. “Because of hunters’ extreme generosity in helping us to achieve the million dollar milestone this year, we want to celebrate and say thank you.”

The Super Tag Raffle includes 10 license drawings, one drawing for each of the following species: bighorn sheep, moose, elk, mountain goat, wild bison, deer, antelope, mountain lion, grey wolf and black bear. The Super Tag Trifecta is one drawing and the winner chooses any three licenses from those offered. Super Tag tickets are $10 each and Trifecta tickets are $30.

Super Tag license raffle winners have the opportunity to purchase a license to hunt any open area for the species selected except for moose and wild bison (areas with 10 or fewer licenses are restricted) and bighorn sheep (areas with eight or fewer licenses are restricted).

Hunters who purchase five or more Super Tag tickets or two or more Trifecta tickets also have a chance at winning a hunting gear package.

Super Tag was established by the Wyoming Legislature in 2014 with the intent of generating additional revenue for the department as well as providing new hunting opportunities.

“As management demands grow, increasing and diversifying funding sources for Game and Fish is important to ensure abundant wildlife and hunting and fishing opportunities continue to be a part of Wyoming’s future,” said Nesvik.

Since 2014, the Super Tag Raffle has raised more than $3.7 million for big game management and wildlife conservation in Wyoming. In 2018, 14,590 people invested in conservation by buying 70,145 Super Tag raffle tickets generating $913,550 in revenue.
