Game and Fish Customer Service Stalwart Peggy States, Passes Away
She joined the department in August 1996 as the customer service representative for the License Draw Section. Through helping thousands of hunters correct their applications for the big game drawings, she generated many friendships.
“Peggy was the consummate professional who was totally dedicated to her customers and the Wyoming Game and Fish,” said veteran Wyoming hunter Steve Carberry of Silver Springs, Maryland. “She was highly knowledgeable, combined with a terrific sense of humor. She was a friend to all she knew and her passing leaves a void for all of us.”
In October 2006, States was transferred to the department’s Telephone Information Center to continue helping the public. She loved working at the Game and Fish and interacting with hunters and anglers. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing with her dog. She was 73.
“Peggy did a great job in helping our customers for many years,” said Jean Cole, Game and Fish Fiscal Division chief. “It was not uncommon for oranges from Arizona, grapefruit from Texas, pecans from Georgia, chocolates or flowers to be sent to her in appreciation for her work.”
Her family requests memorials be sent to the American Heart and Stroke Association, P.O. Box 841125, Dallas, TX 75284-1125; (800) 242-8721.
