Bowhunter education class offered for Wyoming archers
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department, together with Bowhunters of Wyoming (BOW), is offering a bowhunter education course.  The course will be held in Casper, Wyoming on on Sunday, March 20, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students can register for the course online.

While bowhunter education is not required in Wyoming to archery hunt, archers are encouraged to take a class. Many western states, including Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana and Idaho, do require to take a bowhunter education course. Beginning July 1, 2016, Alaska will also be joining the list of states that require all big game hunters (resident and non-resident) using archery equipment successfully completed a department approved bowhunter education certification course

Wyoming bowhunters can complete the bowhunter education class through a traditional 10 hour in-person course or through an online class. The online course, Bowhunter Ed Wyoming, which is an official course of the National Bowhunter Education Foundation (NBEF), teaches safe in-the-field practices, bow shooting basics, different methods of bowhunting, and shot placement and recovery techniques. To finish the online bowhunter education class, each person must also complete the in person four hour field day.

Wyoming offers a limited number of bowhunter education classes each year. For upcoming class scheduling, BOW is collecting names and contact information to help better schedule classes.
