As you begin to plan your fall hunts, be advised that hunting with an airbow is not legal in Wyoming for taking big game, trophy game animals or wild turkey. The airbow is an air-powered device that shoots arrows for hunting.
“Several of our office managers and field staff have received questions about using this new device. Under current Wyoming Game and Fish Commission Chapter 32, Regulation Governing Firearm Cartridges and Archery Equipment, an airbow does not fit into the definition of archery equipment or legal firearms for hunting purposes,” said Wyoming Game and Fish Department Law Enforcement Coordinator Aaron Kerr.
Airbows or other airguns are only allowed to take predatory animals, such as coyotes or raccoons, or small game.
It is the sportsperson’s responsibility to read and know the Wyoming hunting regulations. These regulations are available at any Game and Fish office and online. For question regarding regulations, please contact (307) 777-4600.
