About the segment - The segment is entirely on USFS land. There are no diversions within the segment.

Rationale - Middle Fork Long Creek is critical habitat for Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout, a game fish species of greatest conservation need in Wyoming. This species was once widespread throughout the Upper Wind River watershed, but it now occupies only about 25% of its historical range in the basin. Securing an instream flow water right will maintain existing flow levels needed for spawning, passage, and year-round survival of Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout in the Creek instream flow segment.

Fishery -

How to get there - Travel northwest on highway US 26 W/287 N from Dubois to the USFS boundary and continue about 3.75 miles farther to Forest Road 513 (Long Creek Road) on the right.  Travel on FR 513 about 4.75 miles to the Middle Fork Long Creek crossing, which is near the middle of the instream flow segment. The downstream end of the segment is at the boundary between USFS and BLM property. The segment extends 4.05 miles upstream from that boundary to the upper extent of the Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout population.
