Brood stocks or brood fish are a group of mature fish used in aquaculture for breeding purposes.

Your Wyoming Game and Fish Department operates ten hatcheries / rearing stations and the people who work at these facilities  manage 10 captive brood stocks.

Here is what we manage:
  • Snake River Cutthroat at the Auburn Hatchery
  • Fall Rainbow at the Boulder Rearing Station
  • Colorado River Cutthroat at the Daniel Hatchery
  • Golden Trout, Brown Trout, Eagle Lake Rainbow, Brook Trout and Lake Trout at the Story Hatchery
  • Yellowstone Cutthroat at the Ten Sleep Hatchery
  • Bear River Cutthroat at the Wigwam Rearing Station
Come visit our hatcheries and rearing stations to see these brood stocks for yourself and learn more about Wyoming’s fish.
