Just east of Glenrock and upstream from the Dave Johnston Power Plant, the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission hold an easement for an access road, parking area, and a primitive boat ramp on private land that comprises the North Platte River – Dave Johnston Power Plant Public Access Area. The parking area also features a modern comfort station. The river provides quality fishing year-round for rainbow and brown trout. No camping or fires allowed. All floaters must take out at the North Platte River – Dave Johnston Power Plant Public Access Area, as it is the last river access point upstream of the power plant. WGFD does not plow the access road and parking area in the winter.
