The Sommers-Grindstone Public Access Area (PAA) is a walk-in fishing easement on 4 miles of the Green River. Boaters’ rights to float and float-fish within the easement are not restricted by as long as boats are not beached, landed, or stopped on land. No hunting, shooting, camping, fires, motor vehicles, bicycles, horses, dogs, or pets are allowed on the easement. The access is closed for the months of April and May to reduce disturbance during calving season unless otherwise posted. Please close the gates, as this is a working cattle ranch. There is no public access across the Sommers bridge. Fence styles (ladders) provide access to the river. A variety of game fish species are found in the upper Green including Brown trout, Rainbow trout, and Mountain Whitefish. There is a fair chance of seeing moose, deer, and antelope along the river. The willows are abundant but there is plenty of room for fly casting. Locate this access by driving 4.4 miles northwest of Pinedale, travel south on East Green River road (Sublette County Rd 23-110) 4.3 miles to the Huston PAA. The Sommers-Grindstone access spans south of Huston PAA to the Summers Boat Launch PAA and beyond. The access road and parking area are not plowed during the winter season.
