Wheatland Reservoir #1 PAA is located six miles southwest of Wheatland. Wheatland Reservoir #1 is a private reservoir built for storage of irrigation water for agriculture purposes. The Wheatland Irrigation District provides public access to the reservoir through an agreement with the Wyoming game and Fish Commission. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department manages the Public Access Area and fishery in cooperation with the Wheatland Irrigation District. Water for the reservoir is diverted from the Laramie River below Wheatland Reservoir #2 at the Tunnel diversion. Provided for public use are three developed parking areas with well-maintained comfort stations, two concrete boat ramps, with boat docks that are handicap-accessible provide access for fishing on the 280-acre reservoir. The reservoir provides a well established quality fishing for walleye, yellow perch, channel catfish smallmouth bass, and black crappie. No hunting is allowed at Wheatland Reservoir #1.
