The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission hold an easement on private land for pedestrian fishing access. This area is 14 miles southwest of Casper on Wyoming Highway 220. There is one parking area and almost ½-mile of river access for fishing. There are no comfort station facilities at North Platte River – Schmitt. The river provides quality fishing year round for rainbow and brown trout. No hunting, trapping, camping, or fires allowed. WGFD does not plow the access road and parking area in the winter.
