The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission hold easements on private land for an access road, parking area, and 50’ pedestrian fishing access. North Platte River – By the Way Ranch Public Access Area is 17 miles southwest of Casper off Wyoming Highway 220. There is one parking area providing 2.5-miles of river access for fishing. The river provides quality fishing year-round for rainbow and brown trout. There is no camping or fires allowed on By the Way Ranch. All pets must be on a leash. While not part of this easement, the west side of the river has several miles of public access on Bureau of Land Management lands. The area is for fishing only – no hunting, trapping, camping, or fires allowed. WGFD does not plow the access road and parking area in the winter.
